Monday, Monday!

Not your average Monday I would say. We sent Monty on his way for Orientation which started at 8 am, besides when we were in university I can't remember the last time Monty left the house for anywhere before 8 am. He's a new man getting up by 7;) After we said goodbye I thought that it would be a good day to attempt doing some laundry. Yes, I said attempt because it is somewhat of a challenge when your laundry machine is on the back porch and no I don't have an american laundry machine, I think it's called a ringer washer? European maybe? There is quite the process, you fill up the machine with water from the hose, pour your detergent in and it spins for 15 minutes and then you drain the water and put the clothes in a little spinner and it rings them dry, then repeat step one and two without the detergent. Then hang the clothes on the line to dry. Aren't you so proud Mum? Monty smilingly said "at least it is something to do". I started at 9 and had completed three small loads by 7 pm. One small load had three towels and a pair of shorts. If you put too much in the clothes wont come clean. I was happy that the sun was out and all the clothes were dry by the end of the day because it has been raining every night. While I was doing my laundry I also had the company of a red Lizard and a hermit crab. But who's complaining?, it's 30 degrees outside and I just make sure to bring my broom with me. In the afternoon I did some more grocery shopping and in case you were worried about what we were going to eat, I was able to find some Halal meat, which is kosher meat for Muslims, boneless skinless chicken breast which I threw in the crock pot with some BBQ sauce and it turned out delish. With our ground turkey, pepperoni, Chicken and ham we are building quite the variety of meal ideas. My night ended with an hour of Zumba which was totally awesome.

We are in a new week, settling into a routine with Monty gone all day at school. He comes home for a quick lunch and dinner and then heads back to school to study. I have met some great girls and I look forward to hanging out with them as I think I will be seeing them more than Monty. We will search for a car this week, hopefully something small to manoeuvre around these narrow roads. A mini cooper or smart car perhaps?
P.S. I am happy to report that we have had a bug free house so far, knock on wood.

White coat ceremony, Dr. Shivers, Dean of school.

 Hermit Crab
Lizard friend, they are harmless but this is as close as I wanted to get.

Yummy Dutch Chocolate Milk.

    1. Yes, we wear clothes more than once and t-shirts and shorts take up a lot less space than Jeans. And the kids don't wear PJ"S anymore;)

  3. Not this part of Europe will you find a washer like that ha! Sounds like an old style twin tub without the twin tub! Not been seen for many a year. Ask your mum she'll know what they were, we all had them! Good luck on big wash day x
