Another Move...

This will be number 12 for us! Early in July we were informed that Monty's school would be moving locations over to Sint Maarten. Due to accreditation issues with the Dutch government the school decided to move to Sint Maarten where they have their own government who will give the school its proper accreditation.  The school has been on Statia for 14 years and their removal will be hard on this small island. This news was a bit of a shock and disappointment as we have grown to love this little Island. We are very safe here and feel its friendly and slow pace is a great place for the kids. We will also miss our big yard. However, I am pretty excited to be on an island that offers more americanized grocery stores, shopping and 27 new beaches to explore. You need to be positive right? We will be living in Simpson Bay in a 2 bedroom apartment, our new neighbours the Farrells will have to put up with us for the year. The beach is a 3 minute walk from our place. There are French bakeries and even a McDonalds within walking distance. I asked Krysten the other day if she remembered what McDonalds was and she didn't. Probably a good thing;)
St. Maarten is divided about 60/40 between France and the Kingdom of the Netherlands. We will be living on the Dutch side. The French side has a different voltage system and its even long distance to call over there, I found that quite interesting. The population on the Dutch side is about 40,000 and around 37,000 on the French side. A big difference from our 3,500 here on Statia. We are off tomorrow and will keep you all posted. Let the adventure continue...and don't forget to come visit:)
