Beach Time on Statia

The beach has become a part of our life, we often go 5 times a week. Eli and Krysten love swimming and playing in the sand. Yes, we bring the sand home and it ends up everywhere and we have been attacked by sand flea bites which are not fun. They are itchier than mosquitos. But we continue to love the ocean and I can honestly say it never gets old.

Even on overcast days the beach is still a hit with good friends
Love this cute boy's smile:)

The kids love to go exploring, we walk down the beach to find snails and sometimes we find crabs and bigger snails. One day I went home from the beach and had purple died on my finger tips and there was this awful onion like smell. I had no idea where it came form, googled it a bit and still no answetr. Than a week later when we were exploring with our friends the Harkers, Josh picked up this big snail off a rock and immediately noticed that onion like smell. Light bulb, I guess they let out a purple dye and smell as prtoection. Ill be taking a break from picking snails off the rocks;)

Below the kids are holding a fish that a local boy caught. They grab some wire and a hook and right off the beach where we play they catch their supper:) The kids played with this fish for over an hour.

Loves his truck

Found this old tractor on one of our beach walks, I wonder how long it has been here for?

We are going to miss our Statia beaches but look forward to exploring the many new ones on St. Maarten.
